At JLR, our people are central to everything we do. With more than 44,000 colleagues globally, health and wellbeing continue to sit at the heart of our business. We recognise that investing in people is both the right thing to do and essential for building engaged, highperforming teams and sustaining longterm business success. Over the past four years, JLR has undergone significant cultural change, strengthening its commitment to colleague wellbeing as we transform our business.

This commitment is reflected beyond the company’s own walls. JLR is a vanguard partner within the Keep Britain Working initiative, contributing directly to the ‘stay in work’ workstream. Through this, the business is leading by example, showing how employers can best support the health and wellbeing of the nation’s workforce. To deliver on this commitment, JLR adopts a holistic approach to mental health and wellbeing, supported by a dedicated wellbeing team, financial investment and collaboration with the NHS.

Globally, JLR invests millions of pounds each year in employee health and wellbeing. through a robust evidence-based wellbeing infrastructure that enables preventative health, early intervention, and support at the point of need. The business operates 11 wellbeing centres (six in the UK and five globally), alongside 18 health kiosks across UK sites and mobile wellbeing centres that support smaller satellite locations. Since launching our wellbeing centres, the business has delivered around 22,000 programme engagements, including Wellbeing365 programmes, movement and rehabilitation support, wellbeing assessments and health promotion activities.

Direct mental health support is a core element of JLR’s wellbeing approach. Complementing local healthcare services, JLR provides access to mental health support with average waiting times of less than two weeks, making it easier for colleagues to access help at work when they need it most. Timely access to support reduces the risk of issues escalating and helps colleagues remain in, or return to, work safely and confidently. Through the Digicare+ Workplace app, employees and their families can access a comprehensive package of free wellbeing services each year, including virtual GP appointments, mental health consultations, nutritionist support and an annual health check.

Alongside these core mentalhealth services, JLR has developed a range of additional wellbeing initiatives that support mental health by addressing everyday pressures, encouraging connection and strengthening psychologically safe working cultures. These include:

  • A 24/7 Employee Assistance Programme (EAP), providing confidential support across mental health and emotional wellbeing, as well as financial worries, legal concerns and relationship matters, recognising the interconnected factors that can affect mental health both inside and outside work.
  • Mental Health First Aiders (MHFAs). In 2024, JLR launched a new UKwide initiative to train Mental Health First Aiders across all sites. MHFAs are equipped with bestpractice skills to support colleagues experiencing mental health challenges and signpost individuals to appropriate professional support. Nearly 400 MHFAs have already been trained in the UK.
  • Rehabilitative wellbeing services and mentalhealth awareness initiatives, including educational workshops that help colleagues better understand their mental health and feel confident seeking support early.
  • The LiveWell programme, through which employees can access free healthy lunches with nutritional guidance, supporting energy levels, mood and concentration.
  • Progressive family friendly policies, including support relating to child loss, menopause and surrogacy, recognising the significant emotional impact of these life events and ensuring colleagues feel supported.

JLR also works collaboratively to strengthen the wider evidence base for workplace mental health. The business has joint research projects with the NHS, local authorities and universities, and partners with the NHS on initiatives such as onsite liver scan vans and workplace health checks, helping colleagues address physical health concerns that can otherwise contribute to stress and illhealth. In addition, JLR is participating in the NIHRfunded SHINE study with Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, exploring how large organisations can support health and wellbeing across their supply chains and helping to build national evidence on what works.

The impact of this approach is visible in both wellbeing and workrelated outcomes. To ensure consistency and positive outcomes, JLR wellbeing centres continually collect data on colleague wellbeing and the clinical improvements delivered through our services, enabling us to track both engagement and impact. Overall, 85% report an improvement in anxiety levels and 86% report an improvement in depression, demonstrating meaningful, measurable improvements in mental health.

At JLR, health and wellbeing are embedded into how we support our people and operate as a business. By taking a holistic, evidencebased approach that combines early intervention, accessible support and inclusive working practices, we help colleagues manage the physical, emotional and everyday pressures that affect mental wellbeing. When people feel supported, they are better able to perform, adapt and thrive.
