Checkatrade were winners in the 2025 The Sunday Times Best Places to Work, powered by WorkL.

“The Sunday Times Best Places to Work entry process was straightforward and all done online, which made it smooth and easy to follow. We also had support along the way from the WorkL team. We entered last year as we strongly believe we offer an exciting place to work – in an industry that is evolving fast, and we are leading the way as a tech company to make improvements.
We also believe we have gone through such an impressive and exciting transformation over the past 2 years that it was worth shouting about. From moving from an advertising company to a tech company and really changing our workforce and culture to match the demands and needs of our customers, both consumers and tradespeople. We still have a way to go but we want talent to join us on our exciting journey.
Despite our transformation over the past two years our voluntary attrition rate has remained lower than industry and market average and we believe this is because we offer such an exciting opportunity at CAT, and also a competitive package.
Since being recognised as a Best Place to Work, we’ve seen some clear benefits across both recruitment and brand perception. Notably, there has been an upward trend in the number of highly qualified candidates applying for roles, which has allowed us to fill some key, historically hard-to-fill positions.
In addition, the recognition has boosted our overall brand awareness, helping to strengthen our employer reputation in a competitive market. This has made it easier not only to attract talent but also to showcase the positive culture and opportunities we offer to prospective employees.
Things have evolved since receiving the award. These include introducing a new HR system; a new Talent Acquisition system; a new Benefits portal; a new larger HQ office with more spaces for different types of work; and we introduced some new benefits including heavily discounted health and fertility checks.“
