Join the Work Happier Movement

Join the global happiness movement and discover how companies treat their employees and how to successfully achieve your work happiness rights, fulfil your responsibilities and have a successful, healthy and happy working life.

Why We Exist

Work-related unhappiness is a widespread issue affecting hundreds of millions globally, stemming from factors like toxic environments, limited growth, inequity, insufficient appreciation, feelings of isolation or being stuck, and a sense of lacking work happiness rights that hinders their ability to meet responsibilities. The Work Happiness Charter is supported by numerous organisations worldwide who understand the link between employee happiness and organisational success. This movement was established to empower individuals like you in realising their work happiness rights, fulfilling their duties and achieving a thriving and happy work life.

Core Principles & Beliefs

What We Stand For

Work should be a happy experience – period! Wanting to be happy at work is a legitimate pursuit. If you are not happy, your health and wealth are likely to suffer. You should feel in control of your working life and not be exploited or taken for granted. You should also feel free and able to work wherever you will be happiest as well as find the right job in the right organisation. In other words, it is your right to be happy at work!

‘It is your right to be happy at work’ ~Lord Mark Price

What work means

Your working life is a precious gift for you to give. You are giving your time, your energy and your best efforts to a company, a body or an enterprise you work for.

Your work should make the world a better place. Better for you, your family, your community and the planet.

Your work should bring you freedom: the independence to make choices and the opportunity, regardless of background, to fulfil your potential.

Work is a noble thing. In work we can support our families and help build better futures for them and ourselves. In work we pay taxes and create a supportive and safe society for the many.

In work, we can grow and develop our abilities and talents and can help colleagues to do the same.

In work, we can make a contribution to something bigger than ourselves.

Your work should make you feel proud of what you do. Proud of what you help create, of the joy you can bring to others, of your development and achievement, of the contribution you make to your family and society. Ultimately, you can help build a better, happier world.

Work should be a happy experience. Wanting to be happy at work is a legitimate pursuit. If you are not happy your health and wealth are likely to suffer. You should feel in control of your working life and not exploited or taken for granted. You should feel free and able to work wherever you will be happiest, finding the right job in the right organisation.

It is your right to be happy at work. These rights are consistent with all the codes of human rights. But with those rights come responsibilities.

  • To be paid fairly for your efforts.
  • To be recognised for good performance.
  • To be safe.
  • To be trained and developed to be the best you can be.
  • To be equipped to do your job well.
  • To be kept well informed.
  • To be treated with respect.
  • To be listened to.
  • To be given the opportunity to show your ability.
  • To be cared for and supported when needed.

Your Responsibilities

  • To give your best effort.
  • To develop yourself.
  • To have the best interests of your organisation.
  • To be punctual.
  • To be positive.
  • To give constructive advice.
  • To take responsibility.
  • To be honest.

How WorkL can help

The Power of Togetherness

We’re an ever growing collective of people who are on a mission to enjoy a happier working life for ourselves and others, by tapping into the collective power of individuals sharing knowledge and information.

Millions of people have taken the free Happy At Work Test. This straightforward test identifies the areas where you can improve your own workplace happiness and then shows you how to with the help and support of experts. But also by actively sharing information about the organisations they work for, and how those organisations look after their people, WorkLers are amplifying through the powerful community of the internet, the happiest places to work and promoting positive discussion which can change the world of work.

By joining our movement you automatically get access to a huge database of information on what it is like to work for over 200,000 organisations across all sectors in 195 countries, through the World’s Happiest Workplaces List. You can find out how organisations treat their employees and whether they are a good place to work from a range of different considerations such as pay, career development, inclusivity, knowledge sharing and the health of their workforce. WorkL then shows job vacancies at those companies where people, similar to yourself, are happiest. That way, WorkLers guide other Worklers in finding the best places to work.
